Propelled into the eyewear scene via an Indiegogo campaign in 2018, we’re shaking up an industry that hasn't seen a significant design shift in over 200 years. Nikolai and I (Jensen) built up Ombraz out of a rustic barn loft (complete with zipline) in Bellevue, WA. But nowadays, you can find the Ombraz team working remotely from far reaches of the planet.
Since 2018, our armless concept has won Backpacker Magazine's Gear Editors’ Choice Award, Gear Junkie’s Best Gear of the Year, USA Today’s Best Gear, Men’s Health Gear of the Year, Popular Mechanic's Gear of the Year, Wirecutter’s Best Sunglasses, Gear Junkie’s Best Gear of the Year and Outside Magazine’s Gear of the Year. A passionate community of armless eyewear fanatics have mobilized behind the brand and our armless design has quickly become a gear favorite in the active-lifestyle outdoor space.
We’ve got zero interest in shipping plastic around the world without delivering a substantial net-benefit environmental impact. Through our mangrove reforestation efforts - each pair is 1,713x carbon-negative, making Ombraz the most carbon-negative product available on the planet.
Our goal is to cement Ombraz as the best-known option for active sunglasses and establish Ombraz as the household name of the armless category - all while delivering a substantial net-positive environmental impact.
This will require high-quality products, a well-calibrated supply chain & distribution, robust brand awareness initiatives, and the tenacious task of placing Ombraz in the right people's hands. It will also require an adept, fully aligned, and focused team, where each team member drives extraordinary value in their specific business segment.
Our tenacious, nimble and creative spirit keeps our day-to-day workflow dynamic and fun. We love solving problems and we have set ambitious goals for this company. While our global HQ is in Bellevue, our current team of 13 masterminds, works completely remotely. We absolutely love building this brand and we are ecstatic about this next stage - pushing the boundaries of normalcy and catapulting Ombraz into an industry ripe for innovation.
